Alphabet of Collective Memory explores the body as a living archive of collective experience. The work integrates three hand gestures emerging from seventeen years of uprisings in Iran, transforming their transformation from a single common shape into different forms.
Through handmade paper, mould-making, embroidery, mesh and metal threads, each gesture unfolds across a sequence of forms, moving from latent potential towards a recognizable sign. The fragments become an alphabet of embodied memory, where gesture, material and history meet.
The work asks how a bodily movement becomes language, and how individual experience can take form as collective memory.
